Summer diaries VI. - Biele Vody

This place is another piece of heaven in Slovakia. White Waters. My friend has a cottage there and thanks to him, I had the pleasure to be there twice already. His love for this place is known...and I have to say contagious. Amazing nature, friendly people,  and oh so peaceful and quiet.  A real soul healer. No words needed, just enjoy the pictures...

Toto je ďalší kúsok neba na Slovensku. Biele Vody. Môj kamarát tu má chalupu a tak vďaka nemu som toto miesto objavila a dvakrát ho už navštívila. Jeho láska k tomuto miestu je všetkým známa a treba povedať že aj nákazlivá. Nádherná príroda, milí ľudia, a taký kľud a ticho! Balzam na dušu. Viac slov netreba. Len si to vychutnajte.

The greatest mushroom picking ever!

This summer was not really summer full of sun and hot temperatures. But thanks to quite a lot of rain, it was the summer of mushrooms. I have never seen so many mushrooms in my life. And I have never experienced such a mushroom picking season. We were picking all kinds of edible mushrooms in every feet of the woods. We ended up with several bags of them and spent the rest of the day cutting them and finding trays and spaces to let them dry. The next day we limited ourselves to pick the one and only best mushroom around, summer boletus. We still ended with two more bags! And another evening spent with cutting! On the third day, we skipped the walk in the woods. We were not able to store any more mushrooms and it was impossible to go there without finding them and not taking them with us :-) .

Toto leto síce nebolo plné slnka a horúcich letných dní... ALE! Vďaka dažďu to bolo leto hubové. Nikdy v živote som nevidela toľko húb. A nikdy som nezažila takú hubársku sezónu!  Zbierali sme nekonečné množstvo jedlých húb na každom metri v lete. Vliekli sme niekoľko tašiek a zvyšok dňa sme trávili ich krájaním a hľadaním voľného miesta na sušenie. Druhý deň sme si povedali, že berieme už len dubáky, nič iné. A aj tak sme prišli s dvomi taškami. A zas sme celý večer len krájali a spracovávali. Na tretí deň sme jednoducho nešli do lesa. Nemali sme už kde dať viac húb a zas ak by sme ich našli, nedalo by nám to :-) .

 

 

Mushroom picking

Thanks to the rainy August and my dear boyfriend I went mushroom picking probably the first time in my life. I was feeling like Alice in Wonderland when we entered the forest and I saw soooo many different mushrooms, all the colors and sizes you can imagine. I couldn´t believe I never noticed woods are full of these beauties (and probably they were not when I was there). It is amazing! Really felt like in fairytale!

It was dark and little foggy, still drizzling a bit. I had to concentrate as the ground was covered with old leaves and lot of these small babies were hidden under them. I took like 100 pictures and found like 10 mushrooms of those I was supposed to look for.





We spent the evening cutting them and trying to let dry, but because of all the rain my old mill was very humid, so after few days, we threw out almost half of them, as they were rotten.
But since then, I am always ready to go mushroom picking anytime. I loved every minute of it.

Back to work

I am back to work and the city and I am not really happy about that. Because I have been disorganized for couple of weeks, now my work has piled up and I do not have time to post here. But I promise to get rid of all that undone work slowly and to try post more often here.

Even I still owe you one wedding, I rather show you a little teaser for upcoming posts from my country holliday.

Country living

My dears, I have been busy with wedding pictures I took last week. I will post some of them later. But for now, just a quick note that I am leaving to my cottage before the summer ends to enjoy some country living for a week. Some working, some relaxing, and probably some mushroom picking.. .
